Lucy MacDonald

Lucy has loved drawing and painting from a very early age and was encouraged by winning several competitions locally and nationwide. She was and still is inspired by the Victorian and Edwardian illustrators such as Edith Holden, Cicely M Barker and Beatrix Potter. Growing up in the English countryside, her backyard playground, inspired a similar interest and love of nature as them, an appreciation she has never lost. She has now developed knowledge further to include the flora and fauna of her local Scottish countryside and coast. Having pursued her art interest with a Diploma in Art and Design, studying Fine Art and 3D Design, she continued with an HND in Horticulture, where she combined her love of gardens with that of art and design. Pets are also important to Lucy and, having practised illustrating her own, she is now collecting a sizeable portfolio of pet illustrations for clients. Driven by an innate desire to represent the beauty and wonder in the world around us, she strives to portray a serene atmosphere in her landscape and nature paintings.  In her portraits, she wants to convey the characters of the subject in an accurate and emotive way. She has recently exhibited and sold work through the Ayr Sketch Club exhibitions and enjoys displaying her art journey through Facebook and Instagram.
