John MacDonald

After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1970, John spent most of his working life in advertising and design businesses in Glasgow. He returned to drawing and painting on a more full-time basis in 2007, initially painting in oils and watercolour, mostly landscape and still life subjects.  Since moving to Ayr in 2012, he has more recently been working in acrylics and developing a more abstracted approach to some of his subject matter.  He has exhibited at various group exhibitions including The Maclaurin Gallery in Ayr, North Ayrshire Open, Paisley Art Institute, Strathcarron Gallery, Frameworks Gallery and The Beacon Art Centre.
