Tom Brown

Tom’s career started in engineering, later progressing into sales. In 1989 he opened his own business in Glasgow, designing and manufacturing uniforms and workwear for large corporations, before welcoming retirement in 2015. He has always lived in Ayr. For many years, through visiting galleries, reading and researching online, he admired the different styles and subject matter used in paintings created by renowned and local artists.  This inspired him, upon retirement, to try painting for himself and it wasn’t long before he got the bug!  Using acrylic and oil, his paintings to date have been mainly portraits and cityscapes.  He combines photographic images with techniques used by  professional artists to create a variation of different styles. Since exhibiting, he has been commissioned to paint by a number of clients and friends, resulting in a diverse and thought-provoking portfolio of work.
